Private Music Instruction
The teaching of music, whether in a group setting or in private instruction, is a core discipline at the Conservatory. Our faculty members are commited to the art of teaching.
We offer instruction in all major instruments - keyboards, strings, brass, winds, percussion, and voice - at both campuses.
Students enrolled in private lessons have the opportunity to participate in workshops and recitals throughout the year. An optional technical evaluation takes place mid-year and a final evaluation is held in the spring. Final recitals and certificates of accomplishment mark the closing of each year.
Rates for 16 weeks of private instruction:
30-minute lessons: $440
45-minute lessons: $660
60-minute lessons: $880
Length and frequency of lessons are determined by the teacher and student. Some teachers have higher rates. |
Suzuki Method Instruction
The Conservatory also offers private and group instruction based on the educational philosophy of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, a pioneer music educator who first developed hi prgram of Talent Education in the 1940's.
- Private instruction is combined with 45-minute group classes (additional fee applies)
- Parental involvement is key to student success
- We offer Suzuki instruction in guitar at both the Falmouth and West Barnstable campuses
- We offer Suzuki instruction for flute with Mariellen Sears at the West Barnstable campus
Suzuki Guitar
With Will Pfluger, B.S.
The principles of the Suzuki method, tone production, rote learning, listening, and delayed reading are applied to the study of
classical guitar. Parents must attend weekly lessons and assist with practice and listening at home.
Private lessons are combined with the required group class which provides review, ensemble practice; and fosters good relationships. The course requires an appropriately-sized nylon string guitar. A conference with instructor is required prior to beginning lessons. All group classes are held at the Falmouth campus.

Next Musik Play. Learn. Create.
With Gary Girouard, Technical Music Director
This technology-enhanced ‘semi-private’ piano program is fun, challenging and engaging. Students in the Next Musik
program enjoy three basic concepts in a rotational format:
- Play: Children learn how to play piano (fine motor skills & keyboarding)
- Learn: Children learn the language of music
(cognitive & reasoning functions)
- Create: Children create their own compositions (creativity & problem-solving)
Children build a repertoire of music they can play for friends and family while developing increasing levels of proficiency. This builds self-esteem, confidence and
awareness. They’re able to play, record,
mix, edit and store their personal projects
as they develop their very own music“portfolio”.
At the completion of the NextMusik course, children receive an audio CD of their personal compositions.
16-week session begins February 4
Thursdays, 4:00 - 5:00 pm
$480
12-week session begins March 18
Thursdays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm
$360
