Barnstable Art Classes for YOUTH
With Nancy Pettibone, B.F.A.
Ms. Pettibone has been teaching art at the Cape Cod Conservatory
to the delight of all our families for many years. She designs her
art classes for young people to have enough structure to assure
accomplishment and enough freedom to allow for individual
expression. She believes early art education builds life-long
learning skills, such as critical thinking and creative problem-
solving.

Mini Mondays
A fun and creative one-day art class for children ages 5 - 12. Please be sure to dress for the mess! Walk-ins welcome but pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Get Real!
For students who are ready to draw more realistically. We will discuss and observe shape, line, form and contour while we draw from real life objects and still lifes.
Concoct, Construct, Create!
Discover the amazing things you can do with paint, glue and recycled materials in this mixed media adventure.
Cartooning Open Studio
This mini-class starts with quick lessons in fundamental cartooning, and then students create the characters of their choice.
Art Club
Join the club in this fun and popular class for preschoolers. New projects each session in a kid-friendly atmosphere.
Anime/Manga Open Studio
Love Japanese cartoons? Bring your favorite Anime or Manga characters and books and we’ll refine your drawing skills in this easy-going open studio class. Reference books available during class for inspiration and ideas.
Clay Days Ages
Experiment with air-drying and polymer clay to make animals, pictures, reliefs and more.
Watercolor Workshop
Try out a variety of types of watercolor paints and tools while building your skills in rendering, color and composition. Open to all levels.

An exciting introduction to art for preschoolers in a warm, supportive environment. Kid-friendly projects are designed to highlight the creative process of making art, exploring a wealth of non-toxic materials such as various paints, glue, clay and drawing materials. New projects each session. Instructor is a certified preschool teacher, art teacher and artist. Limit 10 students. Ages 3 - 4.

Mega Sculptures
Build large sculptures of giants, monsters, machines, buildings or anything else you can imagine. Working with different everyday materials including styrofoam, cardboard boxes, paper, wire and recycled materials, students will produce structures that will test their problem-solving skills and please their creative side. Limit 8 students.

Birthday p ARTies at the Conservatory! |
Have a fun and hands-on art-themed birthday party at the Cape Cod Conservatory! Parties are designed for children ages 5 - 12. Guests begin by creating a card for the birthday child. The party continues with an art project led by Conservatory art teacher Nancy Pettibone. Cake and presents follow and (if time allows) a large group painting is created for the birthday child to take home later.
The Conservatory provides:
- Exclusive use of our art studio for 1.5 hours
- Art projects with Nancy Pettibone
- All materials used for art projects
- Art project clean-up
- Tables and stools
- Kitchen facilities (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc.)
Party host provides:
- Food and drinks (no sprinkles or jimmies, please!)
- Paper goods (plates, cups, napkins, utensils)
- Goody bags, balloons or other decorations (optional)
- Food and drink clean up
- Chaperones (at least one adult per 8 children)
Price is $12 per child with a fifteen-child maximum (including birthday child). Minimum charge for each party is $120. A parent or guardian for the birthday child must be present throughout the party. Parties are typically booked on Saturday or Sunday afternoons between 12:30-4:30, although other scheduling options may be available. Please call 508-362-2772 to schedule.
