Private Music Instruction | All Ages
The core discipline at the Conservatory is private instruction. Lessons are offered year-round for children and adults, from beginning through advanced levels in all major instruments – keyboards, strings, brass, winds, percussion, guitar and voice. Both Conservatory campuses are set in tranquil, wooded areas and our staff and faculty provide a welcoming, nurturing atmosphere. An expert faculty with a wide range of diverse talents and
personalities ensures the best suited student/teacher match. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Achievement Program, a recognized
national standard of musical success featuring an effectively sequenced course of study from beginning to advanced levels. Recitals are held at the end of each semester, with community performance opportunities
offered throughout the year.

Performing can be highly rewarding for students. Those taking private and group lessons have the opportunity to participate in workshops, master classes and recitals throughout the year. The Conservatory also has several ensemble opportunities, including the Cape Cod Symphony Youth Orchestra, CJazz, and the Cape Cod Children's Chorus to enhance students' musicality and enjoyment. Many of our ensembles perform in a variety of venues within the community.

Group rates are influenced by class size. The average rates for 16 weeks of private instruction are:
30-minute lessons: $576
45-minute lessons: $784
60-minute lessons: $1072

Lesson rates vary by instructor.  Students and instructors work together to determine the length and frequency of lessons.  For additional finromation and instructor availability, please contact the Registrar at the Barnstable or Falmouth campus.

Suzuki Method
| Ages 4-Adult
Department Chair Joseph Scott, Guitar
Larry Chaplan, Strings
Laurie Uguccioni, Piano
Mariellen Sears, Flute

Dan Flonta, Violin
The Conservatory offers private and group Suzuki instruction for violin, flute, guitar and piano to students as young as four years old. Pioneer educator Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who developed this unique teaching method in the 1940s, believed that talent is not inherited, but nurtured by a child's environment. As such, he believed that children learn to play an instrument in much the same way they learn how to speak a language. His method encourages active parental involvement, daily practice and listening assignments and a combination of private lessons and group lessons with students of similar ages and abilities.
The average rates for 16 weeks of inclusive instruction are:
30-minute private lessons/45-minute group lessons: $560
45-minute private lessons/60-minute group lessons: $760

For additional information and instructor availability, please contact the Registrar at the Barnstable or Falmouth Campus.

Cape Cod Children's Chorus
Sing, Achieve, Enjoy!
Artistic Director/Conductor: John Yankee

The Cape Cod Conservatory Children’s Chorus is a dynamic new program at the Conservatory, directed by John Yankee of the Falmouth Chorale. Students with a passion for singing -- or even a burning curiosity! -- are invited to join this exciting new sequential program. Fostering the highest level of excellence in musicianship will be the primary goal of the program. At each level, children learn basic concepts of musical notation, melody, rhythm, harmony, along with healthy vocal techniques, including posture, breathing and tone production, diction and head voice.

Children will experience and perform a variety of musical styles and historic periods, including folk, world, popular and classical songs – anything from Mozart to the Muppets. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to discover and uncover more about themselves and their “natural instrument,” while making new friends and vibrant music.

Junior Choir for ages 8-12 is a preparatory group that introduces children to the world of choral singing (mostly unison and 2-part), solfege, and fundamental musical concepts. The only requirements for participation are a sense of adventure, a desire to sing, and a willingness to learn!

Concert Choir for ages 10-14 is the flagship group of the Cape Cod Children's Chorus.  Young students are exposed to more advanced concepts of vocal production, ensemble singing, musicianship and theory. Singers gain the knowledge and confidence needed to rehearse and perform with joy in public.
